History: TTMA
The Trade & Investment Convention began in 1999 when the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association decided to create an event to showcase the strength and diversity of the country’s manufacturing sector. On March 13th 2000, the first Trade and Investment Convention opened for business with just 70 booths. Approximately 150 people visited the show and all of our participants were from Trinidad and Tobago.
Fast forward to 2010, when TIC hosted more than 200 companies in 191 booths from 20 countries, including Country Pavilions from around the world. More than 272 international buyers attended TIC 2010 from 35 countries and more than 4,000 people attended the show. [Report on TIC 2010].
TIC has come a long way in just a decade! Over the years we have hosted 5,000 exhibitors and more than 3,000 international buyers. More than 30,000 people, from T&T and the rest of the world have visited the Convention. And there’s that all-important bottom line: TIC has generated an estimated US$450 million in trade since 2000!
